We Are Machinima

Filed under: Machinima — Overman @ 4:53 pm

A full-time student. A journalist. A construction subcontractor. A registered nurse. A computer support technician. A university professor. A waitress. A songwriter. An author. A photographer. Insert your occupation here.

Our Real Life professions are as varied as our names, our cultural backgrounds, our personalities, and our GPS coordinates.

Heterogeneous as we are, we manage to come together around a set of common interests. One interest, mainly.

We love machinima. We love to watch it, we love the joy and pain of creating it.

The community is going to continue to change, to redefine itself. A prophecy has been uttered, and is already coming to pass.

The story to keep in mind here is, ironically, a machinima one: Anna. The act of one flower being plucked seems like a death scene… but even in the act of that death, the seeds of a new vitality are born. If you haven’t seen Anna, then think about the ending to Charlotte’s Web; same idea.

We will survive this transformation.

We are machinima.

  1. I like Fiezi’s idea of change as a virus in the community. It morphs us into new shapes. I agree with you. They’ll always be shifting in the community, but the desire and the passion for the art form is constant. Thanks for the good words, Mr. Prophet!

  2. Thanks! I hadn’t heard Fiezi’s virus take, very interesting analogy!

Hey, just to clarify, hehe, I don’t consider myself the prophet. That link points to Hugh’s article, he’s “da man,” I’m just enjoying the ride.

Didn’t want to leave you thinking I was THAT full of myself, the “Overman” nickname notwithstanding. ;)
