You could rub your hands together and start a brush fire, it was that dry down here, so we definitely needed this rain. But what I could live without are the resultant power fluctuations. Loss of power on my end has resulted in disruption in meetings and deadlines for two production teams I collaborate with, one of which is BloodSpell.

Now, I’m not unfortunate enough to have suffered any data loss or anything catastrophic (thank you, Tripp Lite), but UPSs can only keep this stuff running for so long, and these outages have been significant in duration. Funny thing is, we had less total downtime at my house during hurricane season last year than we’ve had this week from Tuesday forward. But I knew even back then we were extremely fortunate in that and other regards.

So every powered non-work moment has been all about BloodSpell Episode 5, though since I was able to upload RC3 to Hugh this morning I’ve actually been able to work a bit on a little contest entry which, if I’m able to hit the deadline, will be my first official foray into Sims 2 machinima. It was a good excuse to start getting more familiar with TS2’s custom content universe, and also play with some experiments in set design which will come in very handy for future projects I have planned.

Also, just got EastWest’s Symphonic Orchestra Gold. Actually, got it a week ago, installed it that day, and haven’t gotten to play with it at all yet; BloodSpell is decidedly non-philharmonic, and both The Fixer and that other unnamed collaborative project have decidedly modern soundtracks so far. But I’m looking forward to learning my way around this VST’s instruments and brushing up on orchestration skills I’ve let sit dormant for nearly a decade.
