Mitch Featherston pointed me to some interesting articles on Denise Howell’s blog. Denise’s posts focus on licensing and copyright issues across the board, and her two latest articles both have relevance and good insight related to machinima.

First is an entry on licensing within the Second Life universe, which features some interesting details about a recent Creative Commons concert held inside SL. And secondly, this article regarding machinima licensing as it relates to Lionhead’s The Movies, who owns what?, and so on. Very good reading.

Incidentally, Mitch has released yet another set of free high-quality textures over on his blog. Entries are here, here, here, and here. A really nice variety this time around, some highly detailed rocky surfaces, some ground cover, even a few liquids. Good stuff. (His first such release, “Stone Free,” can be found here.)
