Post Fest 2006

Filed under: Machinima — Overman @ 10:42 am

What a phenomenal time I had at this year’s MFF. While the festival program was great and extremely well organized, I found the time outside that schedule as valuable (if not moreso)… sharing ideas and techniques with my fellow filmmakers. Hard to measure the value of that experience. And I utterly fell in love with The City; her charms are not exaggerated. In the most recent overcast episode I share my thoughts after day one of the festival.

Good stuff, all around. I miss you guys and gals already, and am already looking forward to next time.

  1. Glad to hear you had a good time. Even gave you a grats shoutout on my blog. NYC is easy to fall in love with. I’m so sad that I didn’t stay for Sunday’s events. I heard the panels and overall schedule was much more appealing than that of Saturday (pre-awards).

  2. I couldn’t agree with you more, Phil. The impromtu conversations (which left me hoarse and croaking at times) were the real beauty of the Festival for me. Being able to meet and interact with friends and fellow artists was invaluable. Sunday events were excellent, but I maintain that the two most important panels (at least for me) were on Saturday: the Copyright panel and the Machinima with issues panel. I plan on commenting more in a blog soon, but I believe this years Festival will prove to be a watershed event for machinima.

I hear ya about New York. Even having lived there for several years back in the 80’s didn’t prepare me for the uniqueness of the City. Mu Nansen and I ended up walking for miles and miles almost every day of the time I was there and the sights and sounds of the city were simply wonderful to behold. Perhaps this is the rhapsody of the traveller, but I sure felt a
    the city pulling at me.

Looking forward to the Overcast later tonight. So good to finally meet you.

Hope the red headed tranny made it to your room Phil, me and ricky shelled out like 15 bucks for that little doozy.

A long shot, like looking for Brad Pitt in Tibet but I got to ask. Was Mr. Aldrin at the festival Phil?
