New Experimental Piece: Still
A filmmaker who goes by OneJovialSim approached me a couple months ago about a machinima piece she was working on; she wanted to bring to life one of her own real recurring nightmares from childhood, and she offered me the chance to produce the soundtrack for it. I’d seen Jo’s work before and liked it, but I had no way of anticipating just how good she would be with surreal subject matter. Her visuals inspired me with sound and atonal music ideas, and the result is… well, you be the judge.
The piece, which I’m extremely proud to have been a part of, is titled “Still“, and is available at her website. Disclaimer: This film, while not explicit, may contain imagery / themes some viewers may find disturbing.

Disturbing is not the word for it. Cathartic. Ethereal. Surreal. Machinima as therapy? A new trend perhaps?

A welcome collaboration. I’m so glad to see some experimental work being done in machinima. Animation is such a perfect medium for abstraction/surrealism. I think STILL is an excellent film. Your sound work in particular gives such a wonderful depth to the images. I congratulate both you and OneJovialSim for creating such a unique piece. I hope you will continue to work together.
