Ralph and Chuck, Number 1

It’s bullet time. Not the Matrix camera effect, but the blog post style:

  • Party Time! The Online Machinima Film Festival (OMFF) is just around the corner. The screening event is going to take place in Second Life, as is a cocktail party NEXT WEEKEND at HatHead’s futuristic club slash wildlife preserve. Saturday, March 24th at 8:00pm GMT (that’s 4:00pm Eastern and 1:00pm Pacific). The SLURL to jump to the location is: http://slurl.com/secondlife/HatHead/96/138/609/. I look forward to seeing you there! New to Second Life? You can join for free at SecondLife.com. If you’re joining up new, give yourself a couple hours to work your way through Help Island and get oriented before the event begins. I’m Sol Bartz in world, feel free to look me up at the party. More details spackled throughout this Mprem thread.
  • VST plugins in Audacity! This is a huge innovation, and apparently not all that new… but the Audacity VST Enabler lets you bring VST effect plugins into your Audacity mixes. There are hundreds of free VST effects you can go download right now from KVR Audio… reverb, various modulation plugins, equalization and other filters… it’s a smorgasbord. Go get you some! I’ll follow-up some time with a “best of” the VST freebies out there, they are numerous.
  • Lucky # 13. First overcast podcast of the new year is out. It’s really good to be back behind the mic.
  • Hello Sailor! Erik at Free Pixel tells us about Henry Lowood’s NYT article in which the “10 Most Important Video Games of All Time” are listed. Me, he had me at Zork. Anyone else miss interactive fiction from time to time? Check out any one of Adam Cadre’s masterpiecesInterstate Zero being one of my all time favorites. And speaking of tantalizing…
  • Freakin’ Hot. A Public Affair by Aenea Nori, made in Sexond Life. She jokingly calls it porn. You decide.
  • Freakin’ Hillarious. Screen Scenes by Fling Films. Like Kentucky Fried Movie… or Blahbalicious? This GTA-based spoof-fest is a genuine treat. You can YouTube it, but I recommend giving the DivX version some love; it has richer quality… everything.
  • Freakin’ Dope. Captain Pizazz & The Defenders of Funk by the Martin brothers. Tell me this isn’t Adult Swim material. iClone’s limitations, my ass. (Or should I say, my Assy McGee?)
  • (FYI, the “Ralph and Chuck” reference is two-fold: first, the obvious one, is the near-famous wordplay line from M.R.E.; second, I’m referring to the Info-Barf concept I’m nabbing from Shattered Keyboard, who I have since learned nabbed it from kottke.org.)
