Fast becoming my Easter tradition, I went searching for MefuneAkira's "Jesus vs. Easter" which I first came upon last year at this time. I was pleased to find he's recently made himself a new home at Veoh, and you can revisit the hysterical Monty Python tribute, Jesus vs. Easter, right here. And check out this surreal follow-up video, Trouble in Lonewolf; while not a direct sequel, it does feature hilarious cameo appearances by both Jesus and his blonde inquisitor. Later in the video, JC and a demon make like friends... maybe more than friends. Ewww.
In other news:
- Ride the Rollercoaster of US Real Estate Values. I love to see machinima employed in this manner, such a simple yet effective illustration of a factual trend.
- Peter Rasmussen says the Stolen Life for-sale DVD release is imminent. Details will be released on Nanoflix's blog and on the Stolen Life site. Not the first commercial machinima DVD, but a significant one, being that the DVD is currently the only place the film can be seen in full.
- Someone asked Dick Dale his advice for musicians, and his courageous answer could be said to apply equally to animators as well. Cartoon Brew has some interesting commentary on Dale's advice, which I agree with mostly. However, I think Brew overlooks the possibility of a new breed that has not yet been realized, the emergence of the fully independent (and profitable) animator in this new internet era.
- Dale's comments about the music business reminded me of an essay by Steve Albini I read years ago, titled The Problem with Music. It's an even stronger (and unapologetically vulgar, FYI) argument against signing off with The Man. If what he describes is accurate (I find him a credible witness), it's a very different picture of rock stardom than we grew up believing in.
- Overcast #015 comes this weekend. Seven days of guessing as to the authenticity of #014 is enough; I'll put to rest the issue once and for all.
