New Zarathustra Studios Website
I just completed a major overhaul of z-studios.com. And for the first time, I feel really comfortable with the design, and at the same time feel it finally fits the content as it should.
The nature of that content sure has evolved over the past couple years. It’s always been about the films, of course. But why no love for the collaboration projects I’m so proud to have been a part of? Why did the music feel like an afterthought instead of an integral part of the content I create / present? And what to do with these new audio conference thingies? Oh, yeah, and what’s with having to click like 5 times to watch a movie, or 10 times to download one? I want to serve up content efficiently, not give a Tony Little workout for your left-click finger.
So I think I’ve got that all sorted now. The process to get to what you want has been streamlined; all films and clips are available in good quality Flash video (The Plex inspired me) using the Flix Exporter (best machinima purchase I’ve made this year). And, wonderfully, the main site just doesn’t feel like a blog any more. Wordpress is stunningly powerful like that, I’m glad I took the time to get to know its theme and plugin architecture to finally construct the site I’ve been wanting (and even tried in earnest to hire someone to do… there are more flakes out there in web design than in my cereal bowl, I tell ya).
Anyway… I launched the upgrade over the past couple days, and so far nothing has exploded. If you find anything broken or just aggravating about the new design, please let me know. Hey, sure it’s important (I guess) that I feel comfortable visiting the site… but this whole storefront is all about connecting with and sharing with you. So if you like it, don’t like it, let me know. Because I like having you here, and would like more to join us.

Great job, Phil!
Had I known you were looking for a designer I would have offered up my services; it is what I do for a living. But, that doesn’t matter now. You did wonderful work with Wordpress — and taught yourself yet another useful skill in the process. The random graphic in the corner is a nice touch you can update easily with scenes from your future movies.
Still exploring the site; will let you know if I trip over something.

Looks great Overman!
I did notice a slightly glaring render bug under Firefox 2 in OSX (intel-tiger)
I’m not at work to take a screen’cap, but it’s basically a weird scroll bar in the middle of the text of the top-most post. I didn’t get a chance to test this with opera or safari, but if I get time I’ll give it a go and send you a screen capture of the bug.
Looks great from home on windows, however!

Update: Buddy helped me track down the source of the issue for Mac Firefox users; it has now been repaired. Thanks, Buddy!
Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone!
