Adapting to the Flow: MachiniFeed Improvements
Based on some feedback and on my own observations, I have made some adjustments to the way MachiniFeed works.
Over the past few months, some of you have requested that the scope of the feed’s content be broadened a bit - for a couple of reasons:
- To provide a sense of context for machinima amongst her neighbor disciplines
- To fill in for the generally slow pace of content directly related to machinima
While #1 is still a valid need, #2 has grown obsolete as of late, as some regular blogging has begun to churn, and due to the addition of some new very active ingredients like Cinemassively with daily updates. So it now strikes me that uber-active non-machinima sources like Cartoon Brew, Motionographer, and ToolFarm - while valuable - when combined with the current flow of machinima articles, cause the feed to populate so fast that only those glued to their aggregators would be able to keep up.
So I’ve decided to separate the decidedly non-machinima ingredients from the primary feed, making them something you can opt-in if you like, but by default the feed will now have greater machinima-related purity (provided those of us with machinima blogs stay mostly on topic). If you long for that purity, you do not need to do anything - the feed has already been updated to that effect. If you would like to experience what I am terming the “broad” feed, simply nip on over to the Customize page on the MachiniFeed site, and you can set yourself up with just the blend that suits you. You can also check out the Ingredients page to see how sites are now categorized: the default feed includes sites of type Blog and News, while Animation and Film types are only included in the “broad” feed.
Thank you for your helpful feedback and continued support!
