New Machiniplex Premiere Tomorrow
Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. Pacific Standard Time (click here for World Time conversion), Machiniplex will be premiering Tobias Lundmark’s “Among Fables and Men.” Defying the ever-evolving definition of machinima, Fables is a masterwork of compositing, repurposing imagery from World of Warcraft in a stylized Lewis Caroll-esque presentation.
The film should be up at Machiniplex some time today, and then on Sunday at the above time a Q&A will take place with the director in Skype chat, hosted by Ricky, Ingrid and Jason of Machiniplex. Learning more about Lundmark’s techniques and inspirations for this beautiful piece of work should be fascinating.
If you’re on Facebook, you can get more info at the Facebook Event page. Otherwise, I hope we’ll see you tomorrow at Machiniplex.com and then on Skype to dissect and discuss.

That’s a very flattering description of Among Fables and Men
I’m currently uploading the updated version of the movie to Grove, and with these changes it will hopefully feel a little more like a premiere even though its been showed before. Also, for January, I intend to complete the ‘Making of Among Fables and Men’. Malu has already sent me an hour long segment of him going through scene by scene with voice over!

This is an excellent film. I love the imagery, especially how you use Kanji (I think, feel free to laugh if I’m wrong). I hope this doesn’t sound TOO silly, but it really reminded me of Paper Mario. Not a bad thing, because I LOVED that game, but the “2D-ish”ness of the characters really stood out for me, definitely in a good way. The compositing is, in a word, INSANE.
Excellent work all around; congrats!
