New ZS Office, Phase 1

Filed under: Audio, Machinima — Overman @ 10:25 pm

I’ve been a bit A.F.K. for this week, a condition which is likely to persist over the next few weeks while we remodel a new home and move into it. Part of the plus of this move is a new workspace for my music / machinima pursuits… an official, tax-deductible office, if you will. Here’s where things stand after this week.

New ZS Office, Stage 1

On the left, you can see one of two interior walls which has been gutted and filled with fiberglass insulation (installed by yours truly, woo!). The door just right of center leads to a closet which will become an isolation booth for ultra-clean vocal recordings.

Lots left to do, but I’m having fun taking on the general contractor role (as well as active participant) for this and other areas of the house as we really make it our own. I’ll continue to document in photos the ZS office and vocal booth construction as it progresses.

As for podcasts and films, I thank you for your patience as I strain my own, anxiously awaiting an opportunity to get back to work.

  1. Congrats on the new studio space, Phil. That looks great. The wife and I put ourselves through the same thing back in ‘01. The best part of a money pit is when it’s all filled up and done with. :)

  2. I’m jealous! My friend’s dad designed their current house himself and it has a really personal feel to it. Very cool stuff - can’t wait to see how it turns out! I look forward to the next Overcast!

  3. Phil, you have rare opportunity to document whole process of making new space. So, maybe you can photo every step with some future movie in a mind? I mean to take clean front photo of different materials, walls, situation, etc… for later usability as texture or background?
For example, I was making one scene recently where I could give everything for good up front picture of fiberglass or similar insulation on the wall… and it took me days to make one from the scratch.
    Just a thought.

  6. I don’t get it. OK, the textures look pretty good, but it took you a week to make a set with that few polys? What editor can you be using?

(Sorry. I really did parse the photo as a screenshot when I arrived at the page, though!)

  8. A room of his own!

    Congrats!

Now all you need is your very own Igor.

  9. Anthony, you cant imagine how bad with any editor I am. Plus, this was large room with few windows. Mission impossible.
