Is someone going to come clean about being the person who was blaring the Rick Astley song during the awards? I thought it was Baron goofing around, but I was wrong.

Thank you all in charge for awards. Quite a honor.
I wasn’t able to be there because my parents had a car crash couple hours before so I spent all night driving around the Croatia.
(total wreck of the car but one broken leg. Drive Volvo, or else.):)

Wow, Tom, that’s terrible! I am glad the injuries were not more severe.

Thanks, Phil. Car crash is pretty much common thing in my family. And they are OK now, they lough at all thing because dad lose control when he wanted to put title “Mars” instead of “Osijek” (one city in Croatia) on GPS screen.
Well, who can blame him, even 12 years after the war this city looks like capitol of Mars.
And he is serious man, university professor, so you can imagine in what kind of bizarre accidents I was, the official lunatic black sheep of the family.
But seriously, I just notice one thing: is it possible that we don’t have “best director” award on MOVIE festival?! We make movies, we direct them, at least last time I check.
Did I miss something, it want be the first time, or this is serious problem about how non film making perspective we have watching and thinking about Machinima?
I will really like to know that.

Now that you mention it, you’re right, there was no Best Director award at OMFF. I don’t remember if there is one at the other machinima festivals. Seems like a staple to me; maybe it’s omitted because the nature of machinima is such that hardly ever do you find someone wearing solely that Director hat. The Director is often the writer and casting agent and one of the actors and the costumer and set designer and sound engineer and … etc. Probably closest award to Best Director is the one regarding Technical Achievement? But that doesn’t really work, because what the Best Directing award typically recognizes has nothing to do with the mechanics of getting actors to do their thing, but the sensibility… the choices… the “telling” part of the storytelling.
Worth more discussion.
