Can’t overstate how huge the news about iClone is, thank you to John Martin for giving Ricky and I first dibs on talking about it!

AND…

ZS Dissection Lab #5: The Birds

A look a scene from Bodysnatchers, and how the simple and unconventional can sometimes suit the need of the moment just right.

Intro music is “Impulse” by Processor, from their album “Are You For Real?”, available at Magnatune.com

  2. I saw the new iclone3 video the other day. It looks great and am seriously thinking of getting it. My main concerns are with the faces though. In inclone 2, the faces looked to stiff and unemotional.

  3. Yeah, kudos to John for the scoop. And to Reallusion for actually listening to the people who buy their product.

Nice dissection lab, Phil. I agree with Johnnie, these are great!

@Charlemange. The new IClone3 uses the G3 type character which is a big improvement over G2. Do some googling on them and you’ll see what I mean. Also, you have the ability to deform the face in any way you want now and change the texture map of the face. Personally, I think IC3 will have the most flexible, human like faces you can get for a program that isn’t at the 3dsmax or Maya level.

  4. Hey guys, thanks for the awesome roundup of iClone 3. The show was very enjoyable, as always. We’ll unleash iClone 3 late tonight 8/8. Everyone can begin downloading iClone 3 EX soon. @Charlemange - you can see some of the facial morphing in the What’s New video. The faces in iClone 3 have a big refinement with more elasticity in the animation and a new bone for the face, jawbone. I look forward to more feedback from the community.

  5. Nice dissect lab! Creative idea there to pop them into HTML and capture them. I would have figured that it was just one bird copied a bunch with each keyframed individually. Thinking outside of the box indeed!
