Overcast Delay, plus Q2dQ2
A change of plans, Ricky and I were going to cover Antics v4 in this week’s episode of the overcast, but I’d completely forgotten that Ricky was going to SIGGRAPH last week, compiling audio of his experiences along the way. So I’m in the process of prepping that for the next podcast, and we’ll take on Antics in the show afterward.
A little rain with a side of power outage cost me a day this week, and that has put me a bit behind. So I’m not going to have the show ready for release today per the schedule. I’m hoping to have it ready for you before this weekend is over. After that, things will be right back on schedule.
The storm put me behind on the weekly video release as well, so I’ve improvised and put the full Quake2 done Quick2 video on YouTube for the first time. Feel free to check it out below, or click through to YouTube’s site to watch it in higher quality.
Enjoy!

Sorry to hear about the power outages; hope everything is ok with you and family. Good luck with the editing. It was a lot of fun just listening to Siggraph; some wonderful sounds there. Good luck putting it together, can’t wait to hear how it turns out.
And thanks for the vid: very cool.

I just had a thought: would be interesting to do a contemporary version of a re-cam like this? I wonder how that would work? And what games could it be accomplished in?

There’s a little-known shortcut at the very start of Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III) that allows you to effectively skip right to the end boss. There were several “Morrowind Done Quick” vids produced as a result, of which http://www.gamershell.com/download_9021.shtml is one.
Off the top of my head, I don’t know of any more recent game that’s had the same treatment, but I’m sure there must be one. Portal would seem a good candidate - I’ve heard Portal addicts claim to be able to complete the entire game in under an hour.
EDIT - OK, I was slightly over-estimating there. Looks like Portal’s minimum time-to-completion is actually 30 seconds(!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDBIR61jIKs
