Lucca Film Festival 2008

Lucca Film Festival 2008Alessandro Cavalieri writes:

The event was a success!

Many people have applauded your film, especially "What I love about Xmas".

Next year will organize a second exhibition for a festival entirely devoted to animation.

The event Alessandro is talking about is the Lucca Film Festival which took place in Italy between October 10-18, 2008. This year the festival included a section devoted to machinima, with a really great screening lineup including films by Friedrich Kirshner, Lit Fuse Films, Michelle Pettit-Mee and others. Their screenings even included clips and promo bits from Mass Effect, Company of Heroes, GTA4 and other games. Sounds like it would have been quite a reel.

It's exciting to hear their plans to expand further into showing animation at this event. Lucca is a call for entries to watch for in 2009.

It's even possible that yours truly might be appearing as a guest next year, though obviously that depends quite a bit on what happens economy-wise between now and then. Thinking about travel right now is just agonizing expense-wise. It's going to be a tough year in that regard. How happy I am to be involved in a kind of filmmaking particularly suited to making the most of very little budget!

That is a nice line up of films. Congratulations to you, Phil. I hope you'll be able to attend next year. If your pockets are bare, perhaps we can take up a fund to send you to Lucca, baby. Your the unofficial spokesperson, I think. Love to go myself, too.

If you come next year I will come, too. It is close to me and to meet you, few nice Italian ladies, beers and Italian cuisine is simply irresistible. See you next year, Phil.
And you too Ricky, I hope.
Come on guys, if everything turns out well in meantime, we can have really good time.

@Tom - That sounds wonderful! Let's hope it can be so, that would be so terrific.

Great line-up of films, and huge congrats to everyone whose movie was shown. And respect also to whoever put the screening together - I know only too well how much work is involved!

Here's hoping you can make it over to Europe. If time and budget allow, stop over in England somewhere en route.
