My Takedown Notice

It was bound to happen eventually. So what was affected and what do I think about it?

The music industry is a joke.

I invoke that piece of legislation on a daily basis. ;-)

I made a sort of NIN mashup and put it on youtube and it got taken down. I saw that you could swap it with ghosts (The Slip too? I forgot), but the song I picked was intentional and I edited the video around it. I put it on vimeo and so far have had no problems.

Perhaps torrenting is the solution. Sure, they can take down one torrent, but by that time that happens hopefully enough people would have the video that they could make their own torrents and then it could circulate on the internet indefinitely. Perhaps even put instructions in a readme file. . . "please seed, and if you enjoyed this movie and this torrent is removed, please feel free to create a new torrent with this movie." Kind of a crazy (lofty) idea, but I dunno.

Go get-em tiger!

Collateral damage!

Cool video protest, Phil, at least until your hand started shaking at the end. Pringle withdrawals?

What a bummer! At least you are standing up and letting every one know it's lame for YT to do this! Great use of humor to cover your wanting to bop them in the head. And I know what you mean about Pringles. You do your own "take down" on that can, I think.

I don't like the pizza flavored ones.

Just a side note. :-P

I'm sure the legal people at warners who had these videos taken down were pretty far removed from the band (who I'm sure would be happy for your video to stay online) and are unlikely to have considered each one individually in any kind of detail. It's not unheard of for videos to be reinstated after the right people are made aware what has happened, this for example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMU-wXsgyR8
