Today's the Day

The Sims 3 is out today, this latest trailer shows off some of just how pretty and wide open the new game will be.

So, assuming The Sims platform is or has been an attractive machinima platform for you, did you preorder the game? Do you plan to buy it? Do you plan to use it for machinima, and if so, now or later down the road?

I'm a major flip flopper on the topic, I confess. I still don't know where I stand.

These promo vids (most or all of which are the handiwork of Todd Stallkamp and his fellow teammates) are really great. Here are two more recent ones you might have missed:

I do plan on buying S3, but not today. I think it was Decorgal who wrote a great post about how limited S3 will be when it first comes out since the game won't have all of the excellent mods/hacks that have come out for S2. I'm actually going to play the game a bit and see what it's like.

I picked it up yesterday, (and yes, I pre-ordered, pretty much entirely because Micro Center offered a 50% discount for pre-orders). Right now, it's just about the gameplay aspect for me. As a machinima platform... down the road, perhaps, once the flow of mods and content ramps up to speed.

I admit it looks like a lot of fun but I'm sticking with iClone. More because of the legalities of machinima film making than anything else. I love machinima and I love the community - but as an art form you can't safely take it very far from home, so to speak.
