- CGW: Unreal Tech and Chadam - Excellent in-depth article on the use of Unreal Engine technology for the series Chadam.
- Kloseup - Intriguing new indie machinima engine. Still very young, but has some interesting features.
- Machiniplex Premiere: Clear Skies 2 on Sunday, June 28th - I'll be leading a roundtable discussion with the film's crew after we watch the film. Hope to see you there!
- Klipper re: Getting Animata Working - An interesting behind the scenes look at Lars Fuch's ongoing project to get MIDI-controlled puppeteering working using Animata, Processing, etc.
- Trent Reznor Quits Social Media - I rarely find myself disagreeing with Trent Reznor (other than, you know, just about everything about his politics, lol), but I think his reasons for quitting Twitter - and the fatalistic view of the Internet behind that decision ("Idiots rule") - are bunk.
- CrazyTalk 6.0 launches multi-head facial animation - An awesome feature that will greatly improve efficiency on complex CrazyTalk projects. CrazyTalk 6, overall, is a really fantastic upgrade. I'll do a full post on it once I have a copy.
- The Sims 3 EA’s Best PC Launch Ever - Congratulations, ladies and gents of EA Sims Division!!
- Torley: Animoto is way better than slideshows, with a catch - It's lacking in the level control I think I'd really want, but Animoto does indeed create some beautiful results.

I don't know what to make of that TRez post. I think there is a bigger story behind it. He was offering some backstage passes away over Twitter a while ago (unrelated to this new fundraiser or whatever) and this kid won one. Apparently, NIN wasn't there when it came time for him to go backstage so he flipped shit and starting spamming Trent over twitter about it and Trent replied and basically told him to f*ck off. Confusing. I can relate to his frustration though to an extent. Remember the machinima.com fiasco a while back and all the drama that came from that? How about that one guy at mprem who did all of that name dropping and claimed to be working on a huge professional feature film and how that started WWIII? Sometimes I get sick of all that internet drama myself. I've personally refrained from getting too involved with too many forums in the past couple of years just because of that. I wouldn't go so far as to proclaim that "idiots rule," but I will say that there are a lot of idiots out there. It doesn't help when you start lashing back at them either, like Trent did.
RE: Kloseup. From Korea, huh? And here I was half-expecting to see Cambridge somewhere on the page. :-D Will give the program a look see soon.
The EULA looks pretty thin on content. Is it me or is there not anything referencing the rights concerning a completed film/video?
I totally agree with Reznor. Social Networking Sites are not for everyone. I was recently harassed (hate email and threats) out of a social networking site for ex smokers because I blogged too much about the importance of a positive attitude and taking personal responsibility for one's addictions. There were sheeple (people who act like sheep) on that site that DID NOT want to hear that, and they let me know in the rudest most negative ways. So I left. I think Social Networking Sites work well for sheeple that "go along to get along" - but if you voice your own contrary opinion and have a strong personality, well, be prepared for the e-street thugs and e-neighborhood bullies to come knocking on your door. I just have better things to do than answer hate mail all day - LOL.
Just to clarify the previous post on the EULA was in reference to Kloseup
Cathy, why would you receive hate mail for promoting a positive attitude towards quitting smoking? As a smoker who's trying to quit myself, I'm puzzled by that.
