Kseniya Simonova

This live performance of a sand animation (sand painting) by Kseniya Simonova is breathtaking both in terms of craft as well as emotional impact. Captured from television show "Ukraine's Got Talent," this performance memorializes the invasion / occupation of her country from 1941-1945.

Utterly, completely, unbelievably amazing - makes me want to switch off any digital toy.

That just blew my mind. That was incredible.

Amazing and inspiring indeed. Thx for sharing. I have to admit I don't like the '.. got talent' and similar formats at all. The shows we have here in Germany of that kind of shows are really bad. Mainly mostly the jury and audience making jokes and fun on most of the perfoming amateurs. But this performance is absolutly stunning. Reminds me that Live performance is a unique feature of machinima as well. Not too much is done along that road. The ILL Clan did some amazing performances and Friedrich Kirschner does some live puppeteering from time to time with his own Moviesandbox tool. Hope to see more live machinima performances sometime.

That's a very interesting point CD. I've never seen any live machinima performances. Would definitely be something to check out. It's something that could potentially be done on a platform like Halo 3 (or many PC FPS games) with live games (shootings) and the audience as players in spectator mode, but in that case the audience would essentially choose what angles they wished to view the performance from. As a filmmaker, you'd lose quite a bit of creative control over the presentation, but it sounds cool in an indy sort of way, especially if members of the audience chose to film their perspective independently to be shared with a community (kind of like amateur concert bootlegs). An interesting concept. . . would definitely be appealing with an established show like Red vs. Blue, but I don't know if the experience could be translated for a relatively unknown artist. Halo 3 has inherent game "quirks" as well; players can spawn into the game at any time from spectator mode, so without a disciplined, competent, and polite audience trying to perform such a feat would be a potential nightmare. Probably the same deal with the majority of PC shooters as well.

That was amazing. I have never seen anything like that before.

Magnificient, there should be more of this type of work, it makes us appreciate what our Fathers & others went through to give us a roof over our heads, and food in our stomachs.

Well done.
