Great work Overman! I love the details, pacing and mood of this film. Excellent cuts too.

Yes! Overman, this is very well done. The story of the embattled priest against the song lyrics makes for a darkly delightlful Machinima. Your editing and choice of shot composition really underscores the importance of fundamental filmmaking applied to Machinima.

*Imitating ‘Wayne’s World’* “I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!”
Wow. Very, very good. I liked the scene where the priest was in front of the night club. Amazing contrast.
The quality is astounding. I got chills during his sermon flashback scene and there was the girl with no eyes. I’m not a fan of Sims music videos in general, but this was IT. I wasn’t sure if I liked the guy singing the song being shown every once in a while, but I realized how spot-on the syncing with the audio was and I changed my mind.
Damn. Keep up the incredible work. Very inspiring. I got to quit watching your movies- they make me look bad!

Very insulting. Your lack of knowledge is befitting someone who obviously didn’t do any kind of research into Christianity.
It appears the priest either knew the boy, or was just praying for him. Either way, if he was really Christian, he would have known that the boy (if he was saved) is in a much better place. Considering how he was bald, i’m guessing he had cancer. Sure he would have had some grief, but in the end he wouldn’t have started a satanic cult or whatever happened (i fast forwarded a bit through that)(edit: i rewatched it, the full thing. Still didn’t make too much sense)
Editing was good. But not enough thought was put into the religious aspects.
Try doing some research before you do something that comments on something so edgy/important like religion.

p.s. I love the shots, and other things you used.
I agree with ‘KradProductions’, the accuracy of the mouth was really neat.
(also i’m not someone looking for people makign fun of jesus, i saw it on machinima.com, and i like NIN; but it wouldn’t let me post on machinima.com)

Well done Overman. Excellent remix as well as selection of scenes and transition. Takes some serious guts to use such symbolism and sensitive topics, but at the end of the day, machinima is about showing yourself, your views, your opinions, and your story to the world. Regardless of what some people may or may not say about the choice of “religious themes” in this video, it is well done and deserves respect above scrutiny. There are machinimators who make films for themselves and there are those that make films for audiences to enjoy. I think you’ve hit a touchstone for both with this one.

In response to Hugo:
“Very insulting. Your lack of knowledge is befitting someone who obviously didn’t do any kind of research into Christianity.”
Hugo,
It happens everyday. Something bad happens (or what we perceive to be bad) and someone loses their faith in God because of it. The video reflects that reality, as it IS a reality - it happens. It doesn’t make it right, but we express in video life experiences, ALL life experiences whether they are CHRISTIAN or GOD approved or not. That is what the art is about.
That said, regarding the ART, it was an extremely well done video, techologically and cinematically, the message has and does come to pass in the real world. Thus it should be judged on that, not on how Christian it is.
Philosophically, all of us are only on this planet and life experience for a hot second when compared to eternity, and if what it says in the bible is true, we will all see our loved ones again - and then we will understand why we suffered such pains and sorrow in this life.
Well done, Overman. One day maybe you will make another, when these things are made clearer to you. I feel your personal tragedy in this piece and believe it is because of that that you made it. You really are a master at bringing out emotion via the Sims - a real talent, regardless what I think of your personally.

I feel shocked as well when i get to see the girl during the priest sermon. I will watch it again and see the real meaning of the video and I will let you know of my comments again about this.

Overman,
I’ve just recently discovered your work and this is an excellent piece. You have a great eye for shot composition and your editing is as clean as any professional could do. Also very impressed with your knowledge and manipulation of TheSims 2 to covey such powerful emotion in your shots.
Bravo. Great work! In my opinion you are the best of the Machinima directors!

Bravo Overman!
If Friedrich Nietzsche were alive and well today, he would probably be a serious Nine Inch Nails fan. And knowing that you, as “the Overman” nonetheless, have created a video dealing with many of the religious and philosophical issues that he writes about would just throw him into a state of absolute frenzy! His book “for no one and every one” (Thus Spoke Zarathustra) has obviously had a beneficial, albeit creative, influence upon your artistic and thinking skills. In short, thank you for the inspiring NIN/Nietzsche/Nihilism song and video!
