Year of the Recams
In the busy year (1999) following Thresh vs. Billox and Father Frags Best, Overman was commissioned by four parties to provide recammed interpretations of their Quake 2 demos. Up until 2006, those works were only viewable by those who happened to still have Quake 2 installed, and could manage to get them running (not a difficult task back then, but not exactly intuitive for today’s machinima audience). At the request of Henry Lowood of The Internet Archive along with several recam fans, these demos have now been made available in video format, reinvigorated with the help of Quake2Evolved (Q2E). The longer events have trailers, and the full-length films are available for all selections. And, of course, you can still grab the original in-game versions for that ultimate-resolution experience (Quake 2 required). Enjoy!
