Phil Rice

Some of you may know me as “Overman”

I make animated movies by repurposing and modifying video games, and I've been doing so since before there was a name for it (machinima).

Between 1998 and the present, I’ve made just shy of fifty short films in a variety of genres and with a variety of tools, and have done sound design and musical score for dozens more.  My work has been featured in film festivals and exhibitions all over the world, and I have made some wonderful friends along the way.

My best known work is “Male Restroom Etiquette,” which has racked up over 6 million views on YouTube. It’s been used as an entertaining instructional aid in college Psychology classrooms around the globe, earned an entry in the Guinness World Records, and has been screened at over twenty film and animation festivals in ten countries.

I’m not done making films, just taking a long break from this creative outlet to focus on some others… like my singer/songwriter venture, Mad Hominem. Check them out here!

This site has a sample of some of what I think is my best or most interesting work so far. Some of it isn’t kid-friendly, for that I apologize ahead of time.

I hope you enjoy!
